Façade Maintenance Systems
Guardian saves the day
A client managing a new construction had initially contracted another company for their engineering services. However, at a very late stage in the process, the contractor ran into issues and was unable to deliver an adequate solution. The client approached the team at Guardian to see if they could help complete the install.
A wide range of custom products
With a concrete pour deadline fast approaching, Guardian was tasked with delivering a wide range of modified, off-the-shelf solutions for the most urgent portions of the system and expediting custom products to help meet the client’s deadline. These included façade maintenance anchors (custom tie-back anchors), davit arms, intermittent stabilization anchors (ISAs) and fall arrest systems (horizontal lifelines) – almost the entire breadth of Guardian’s product line.
A unique set of challenges
Joining the project mid-way through and taking over from a prior contractor presented challenges in terms of continuity and adapting to new ways of working. In addition, the site was in Canada – with cross-border shipping only truncating the timeframes further.
Pivoting the design at the eleventh hour
Despite pushing everything through as quickly as possible, there was a delay in getting the review back from the building owner – which meant pivoting the design at the final moment to allow for an alternate embed method, so the team could embed the base plates into the concrete prior to the rest of the product being delivered on the site.
A successful install
Working under pressure and to extremely tight timeframes, Guardian was able to expedite engineering and custom product at site, to successfully deliver a solution that met the client’s deadlines.
