This course will give participants theoretical knowledge and practical skills to safely access and work on rooftops. The course can be conducted on your site if the facilities and structure are suitable, or at the Guardian training centre in Kent. 

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the relevant Legislation & Guidance
  • Understand and explain the risks associated with roof environments and control measures
  • Understand and explain rooftop safety and access procedures
  • Understand and explain the use of PPE for rooftop access and work – inclusive of types, care and maintenance, inspection regimes
  • Demonstrate access and work methods for rooftops
    • Restraint methods
    • Fall arrest methods
    • Work positioning methods
  • Understand the importance of emergency and rescue plans and explain their elements – including First Aid requirements, getting help, reporting of incidents and accidents
  • Understand and explain the dangers of Radio Frequency – what it is, types and effects

Participants Will Receive:

  • Certificate lasting 3 years
  • Direct support from the Guardian training team and Guardian Fall customer service

Important Information:

Health:

All personnel participating in Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Delegates will be required to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under the influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol.

  • Sustainable clothing for training at height
  • Safety boots
  • Helmet
  • Gloves
  • Any work at height PPE if in possession and within valid statutory inspection
