Our GWO Manual Handling course is carried out at our training facility in Kent in the Southeast of the UK, fully accredited by the Global Wind Organization as one of the 5 modules of the Basic Safety Training Standard (BST) and taught by expert instructors with experience in the industry.

The aim of this module is to encourage positive Manual Handling behaviour and train delegates' ability to perform Manual Handling tasks in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry/environment.  

The training shall be designed to improve and refresh delegates’ awareness through both theoretical knowledge and practical training. The focus shall be on practicing correct techniques.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to: 

  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of carrying out work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their geographic work location
  • Identify aspects of their job tasks that could increase their risk of developing muscular/skeletal injuries
  • Demonstrate understanding of safe practices of Manual Handling techniques and have knowledge of reporting methods
  • Demonstrate a problem-solving approach to Manual Handling in a wind turbine environment
  • Demonstrate Manual Handling risk reduction techniques

Participants Will Receive:

  • Certificate lasting 2 years
  • Direct support from the Guardian training team and Guardian Fall customer service

Important Information:

Health:

All personnel participating in GWO Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Delegates will be required to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under the influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol.

  • Comfortable clothing for practical exercises and scenarios
  • Safety boots
