Our GWO Sea Survival Refresher course is carried out at our training facility in Kent in the South East of the UK, fully accredited by the Global Wind Organization as one of the 5 modules of the Basic Safety Training Standard (BST)and taught by expert instructors with experience in the industry.

This BSTR Sea Survival Module is to review and build on previously gained knowledge and skills through open questions and practical training. Delegates shall be able to act safely and take the correct preventative actions in all aspects of offshore operations from shore to installation vessel or WTG, and vice versa, both during normal operation and in an emergency in an offshore wind turbine environment.

Current valid certificate must be shown on arrival of the course booking to be eligible for a refresher course.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of dangers and symptoms related to hypothermia and drowning
  • Understanding of the advantages and limitations of the different Life Saving Appliances (LSA), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) commonly used offshore in the wind energy industry and are able to don and use them accordingly
  • Knowledge of risks related to transfers (dynamic/static - static/dynamic)
  • Safe transfer from vessel to dock, vessel to foundation
  • Knowledge of the emergency and safety procedures on installations, vessels, and WTGs
  • The Recovery and the First Aid treatment of a “man overboard”
  • Evacuation from the mock WTG to the water by using a rescue device
  • Individual and collective survival techniques at sea

Participants Will Receive:

  • Certificate lasting 2 years
  • Direct support from the Guardian training team and Guardian Fall customer service

Important Information:

Health:

All personnel participating in GWO Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Delegates will be required to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under the influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol.
