Our GWO approved Enhanced First Aid course provides the knowledge and skills to administer safe, effective and immediate lifesaving first aid measures to save a life and give assistance in remote areas. Delegates will learn how to use advanced emergency equipment and medical teleconsultation services to provide ongoing care to an ill or injured casualty, while waiting for handover to professional emergency rescue teams.

The aim of the GWO Enhanced First Aid course is to provide the delegate with the knowledge and practical skills to administer safe, effective and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid measures to save life and give assistance in remote areas, while waiting for professional rescue services to arrive.

New wind industry technicians can complete GWO EFA training in 3 days when entering the industry as the course consists of both Basic First Aid (FA) and EFA elements. Upon completion of the training 2 certificates (FA & EFA) will be issued.

If you already have a GWO FA or First Aid Refresher (FAR) certificate, you have the option of taking FAR combined with EFA training elements in 2 days and you will also receive 2 certificates (FAR & EFA) after successful completion of the training. Refresher training thereafter is conducted over 2 days.

Prerequisites: To complete a GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA) course, delegates must:

Be WINDA registered before arriving for the course
Medically and physically fit to complete practical scenarios

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:

Understand the importance of carrying out basic and enhanced first aid in a safe manner, in accordance with local legislation and according to European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.
Administer safe, effective, and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid measures to save life and give assistance in remote areas using advanced emergency equipment and medical teleconsultation, while having regard for personal protection.
Identify and explain normal function, normal signs and symptoms of serious and minor injuries and illness related to the human body.
Demonstrate understanding and correct order of management in an emergency, in a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) environment.
Deliver immediate medical/rescue assistance providing a concise and relevant report of the casualty's condition
Prepare the casualty for transfer to nominated evacuation/rescue point.
Act as a leader in first aid situations.

Participants Will Receive:

Certificate lasting 2 years
Direct support from the Guardian training team and Guardian Fall customer service

Important Information:

Health:

All personnel participating in GWO Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Delegates will be required to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under the influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol
