Our GWO Work at Heights Refresher course is carried out at our training facility in Kent in the Southeast of the UK, fully accredited by the Global Wind Organisation as one of the 5 modules of the Basic Safety Training Refresher Standard (BSTR) and taught by expert instructors with experience in the industry.

The aim of this BSTR Working at Heights Module is to review and build on previously gained knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training so that Delegates continue to Work at Heights safely and in accordance with GWO working at Heights standards.

Current valid certificate must be shown on arrival of the course booking to be eligible for a refresher course. 

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of hazards and risks associated with working at heights in a WTG (Wind Turbine Generator)
  • Correct identification of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including identification of European/Global Standard markings on harness, hard hats, lanyards and other PPE
  • The knowledge of and skills to correct pre-use inspect, service, store, and correct fitting of harnesses, fall arrest lanyards, work positioning lanyards and other PPE
  • Correct use of the relevant PPE, e.g., harnesses, fall arrest lanyards, guided type fall arresters and work positioning lanyards. These include correct identification of anchor points and correct ladder conduct
  • Correct use of evacuation devices
  • How to approach rescue situations in WTGs (Wind Turbine Generator) and use rescue equipment efficiently

Participants Will Receive:

  • Certificate lasting 2 years
  • Direct support from the Guardian training team and Guardian Fall customer service

Important Information:

Health:

All personnel participating in GWO Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Delegates will be required to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under the influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol.
